Do you have an object that needs conservation, but lack the means to do so? I’ve compilied a list of grantors which support the conservation of objects and improvemment of collections care. Most of this funding is only available to museums or other chartiable organisations.

Tru Vue Conservation & Exhibition Grant Scheme

This grant scheme from the Institute of Conservation will fund projects which conserve and protect an object already on display or enable an object that is not currently on display to be conserved and made accessible to visitors.

Award: £3,000 cash award and Tru Vue glazing materials

Eligibility: Small heritage institutions under 100,000 visitors per year

Small Grants Fund

This grants fund from Museums Galleries Scotland supports small scale project works, acquisition of equipment, and preparation work to plan future development.

Award: Up to £15,000 for accredited museums, up to £10,000 for non-accredited museums

These grants from the Association of Independent Museums enables museums to bring in conservation expertise to ensure that collections care and conservation meets professional standards.

Award: £1,200 for a Collections Care Audit

Eligibility: UK museum with fewer than 50,000 visitors per annum

Museum Fundamentals

This grant from the Association of Independent Museums combines collections care and conservation support. It encourages small and medium sized museums to create projects which improve knowledge, care and access to heritage. These projects may include collection care improvements and conservation treatments.

Award: Up to £20,000

Eligibility: UK museum with fewer than 50,000 visitors per annum

This fund supports UK heritage which is at risk of loss. It funds the acquisition, conservation and preservation of iconic buildings, land and heritage items.

This grant supports the conservation of cultural heritage of recognised national and international importance in museums, libraries, galleries, historic buildings, or landscapes accessible to the public.

Award: Up to £7,000

Eligibility: UK Registered Charities or UK Publicly Exempt Charities

Award: £10,000 to £250,000

This grantor supports the conservation of items and fittings that form part of or are attached to buildings fulfilling a charitable purpose.

Award: Up to £5,000 or 50% of the cost of the work

Eligibility: Object must form part of building fulfilling a charitable purpose
